Tried and Tested: the North Face Summit L4

Testing The North Face jacket in Northern Ireland. ©

A couple of weeks ago I was on the road to shoot and write about walking and food (a good combination!) in Northern Ireland for a magazine feature. I had great gear with me, one was a jacket from The North Face Summit Series, developed and co-designed by alpine climber David Göttler, for my serie Tried and Tested on Walking in Luxury.

Although Northern Ireland is not exactly the Himalayas (where David and his friends tested this series), I was very happy to have this midlayer on hand during this windy day on the cliffs. I found it warm and comfortable and it has a snug hoody. The synthetic filling means that it dries quickly when wet.

But all technical details aside: I just loved the way it looks. The material is not too outdoorsie-looking and the fit is perfect and feminine. Since I try to pack lightly when travelling, for me it means I can wear this jacket also on a cold night in the city, which I did in Belfast later that week. By the way guys: there’s a men’s version too. Add a top layer and it makes for a perfect combination for outdoor sports, skiing ánd fun in the city. Summit L4 men & women’s,
